March 1, 2022: City of Waltham Purchases the Field Station from UMass. Stay tuned for more details!

A Regional Center for Sustainability

The Waltham Field Station houses several different non-profits all working to advance local food systems and sustainability.  Collectively these organizations have an irreplaceable & regional impact.  Find out more about the organizations that call the Waltham Field Station home and the work that happens here by visiting the Tenants and Insider Look pages.

Under Threat of Closure

The Field Station is currently owned by the University of Massachusetts, who have publicly anounced that they plan to shutter the facility December 31st, 2019.  This puts all of the non-profits housed in the building at risk of eviction.  We are invested in finding a solution that allows these non-profits to continue the important work they do with minimal disruption to their operations.  To find out more about the current status of the Field Station visit the Updates & News page.

This website was created by a coalition of tenants of the Waltham Field Station, including: Waltham Fields Community Farm, Waltham Land Trust, Green Rows of Waltham Community Gardens, Grow Native Massachusetts, Mass Federation of Farmers Markets, and the Boston Area Climate Experiment. Other tenants at the time this website was created, but who are nio longer at the site, were the Boston Area Gleaners and the Charles River Dog Training Club. Website and its content has no affiliation with the University of Massachusetts or the City of Waltham.
